Let’s do this thing! What an adventure.

“Let’s open a company”, my daughter said to me one afternoon as we chatted on the phone. “Sure”, I said, thinking it would be a little antique shop or something like that. “Well, you know how much I love Anime and D & D and you know how much I love the cosplay events”. I’m starting to get a little scared now as I have stayed away from most of these events her entire life. “Well, how about opening a themed event company that hosts immersive balls?” My heart stopped as I thought OMG can we do something like that? Many things raced through my mind before answering. I was not working at the time and thinking about what else to do with the next chapter of my life. I was of retirement age, but not so much ready for retirement. I was a single woman with a boyfriend of thirteen years who is 17 years my jr. I didn’t want to stay home and wait for him to retire as the years slipped by, nor did I want to travel by myself. So, I had been thinking about something else to do for work besides working 14 hours a day producing television or film.

I had signed up and opened my own bookkeeping company. Kind of boring, but I could do it anywhere in the world and on vacation as well. I had agreed to teach some classes at the local film school to give back to the next generation. As I thought about it, we were ALL very good at logistics with our careers in Film and Television; me being a veteran and Amry and Raphael about 10 years in. How hard could it be to put on and event for 300 to 500 people when we do stuff like this every day.

I had said 2024 was going to be the year I changed everything up, so being a supportive mother, I said, “Sure, let’s do it!”

Within days we zoomed and started talking about what we could do to branch out from just themed balls to cruises, dinners for 400, corporate themed events or team building experiences, and so much more. We were on our way, and it seems like it’s going to be an amazing experience! A lot of work, but exciting work.

Unfortunately, the boyfriends gone, but the excitement of a new venture is still here!
